Backup Firefox Bookmarks with Xmarks

Bookmarks are an effective way of remembering websites , especially those with difficult names . While all browsers today offer Bookmarking facitlity , Firefox still comes on top when it comes to ease of accessing and backing-up these bookmarks.

In our last article we learnt how to backup Firefox bookmarks without  using any addon. Today we will learn how to do it with the help of addons. This article is dedicated to one of my favorite addon – Xmarks.

How does Xmarks work ?

Xmarks is bascially an online bookmark backup  addon . It can be installed on all the 4 major browsers – Firefox , Internet Explorer , Google Chrome and Safari. It backs-up your bookmarks online to its servers. When you install Xmarks on any of the browsers and sync it with your Xmarks account, it automatically updates all your bookmarks to its servers.

Once your bookmarks are in sync, you can access them through any browser and any computer that you use.  Xmarks allows you to encrypt any data that you send to its servers . You can even use your own sever or take a backup at your computer if you don’t wish to use Xmarks servers.

First Things First

To use Xmarks , you will need a free Xmarks account. Create and validate your account at Xmarks website.  Once you have your Xmarks account all set up move ahead with the following procedure.
