Technology at your door step

Today I attended a conference on technology, its after effects and other things, the main topic of the conference was Role of ICT in developing Rural India , the main people who attended the conference were experts from the various fields of technology , IT and other fields like NGO’s as well.
Technology has helped many people like me and others as well; I would like to elaborate some of the popular things like

  1. Online shopping : Technology has made possible for each one of us to believe that they can shop online, and in fact many of us do shop online whether one thing or other. The largest site on the web Amazon is one example of the same.
  2. Personal Debts: There have been instances of people having personal debts and taking loans from Banks but now a days, it has become very much easy to obtain a short loan from bank. Credit Cards do the same. Infact there are several Credit Card Offers on credit cards from banks that offer the cards so that the people who own the cards do not have problems in repaying them.
  3. ATMs : Due to technologies present with us , there have been widespread use of ATMs to withdraw the money from ATMS and even, the people traveling internationally can get their money abroad without any problems as such.

I guess you might be able to find out some technological aspects around you and if you live in village , you might not find out one but still you will have to make a group and pressurize the local authority to get the work done.

Motorola W 233 Renew

Motorola has taken a step forward in terms of recycling stuff, reducing excess packaging, and offsetting carbon footprints and released their first recycled mobile phones.

The handset name would be Motorola W 233 Renew.

According to the sources Moto Renew has been carved out of used plastic bottles, (not a difficult task but definitely commendable).

Moto W 233 has got a characteristic green shell, which obviously represents Moto’s effort. As far as the looks are concerned the phone is not the one you would like to die for. It would have been nice if Motorola had come up with something more interesting to match up with their concept.

It would be fun to see what you as users think of this product.

SanDisk Cruzer Enterprise integrates McAfee protection

USB drives have made the job of transferring data very easy. Now we can easily transfer data in GB’s without the hassle of finding a new DVD or CD every time. It not only saves times but also is very convenient to carry and store.

Having said that it also suffers from a basic defect i.e. it acts as a virus career and the fact that it can be used over and over again only intensifies the problem. In fact it was only a few days back when US army banned their usage after a virus from a USB drive plagued their networks.

However it seems that SanDisk has found a solution to this problem as well. They have introduced a secure USB drive named Cruzer Enterprise which has built in McAfee Antivirus security feature. The USB drive conducts an automatic virus scan and denies any data transfer if it recognizes any virus.

This is a wonderful breakthrough which is likely to re-boost the confidence of people in USB drives.

Technology Involvement

There are millions of websites and the Internet is growing day by day. It is expected to grow at the similar rate until there would be a saturation level but until then why should we suffer. I have seen thousands of blogs and websites having same design , which they buy from a particular service.

There is a secret to customer retention , which we are studying in MBA course and that is distinct looks, so you should try to have a website which is different from all the other’s present online. For this you would need help of some persons like a PSD coder who will code your design your imaginations and design into a PSD template.

After your design is converted in PSD template , it now requires psd to html conversion which should be taken care of as a smallest mistake would lead to un XHTML template and won’t look good. I have a friend who is good in converting templates from PSD to html but then he is a noob in this field so I would request you guys to look for some authentic service like HTML Markup to get your PSD converted into HTML.

Firefox Now with Private Browsing Feature

Continuing with it developmental efforts the Mozilla group has recently released the Firefox 3.1 beta 2 for download. Out of the several features that have been added to the latest version the most significant or important feature is the private browsing mode that lets you browse without any of your web history being stored locally.

It would be great for people who like to browse internet anonymously for some part while saving their browsing history for the other part, like a person trying to find a new employer at the work place. Once enabled it directs the Firefox browser not to store any of your browsing information.

As far as other browsers like IE 8, Safari, Google Chrome are concerned this is a already regular feature in them. Some other features that you may see added in the new Firefox are designed to increase the performance and the speed of Firefox, one of the areas where Firefox was losing to Chrome.

Online Backup Services

In this particular post I would like to mention some important thing while using a PC and also keeping in mind various measures that can be taken to bypass if anything goes wrong. So, the topic for today is keeping your data safe and sound. Well let’s start off with me. I try to keep my data safe and sound which is on PC so that I may not have to look around for data files if the PC ‘s hard disk gets corrupted or the digital Media gets damaged.

It is estimated that by the end of this decade millions of people will be using online backup services , mostly corporates have started using backup services because they can not carry their hard disks everywhere and even compact discs each time they move out of the country as there might be chances that in transit their data or presentations might get damaged as well. Because of the same reason I have also started using Online Backup to store my confidential data and even private data like photos, music and videos that I have made myself.

But before starting out to go for an online backup service you should check pros and cons of a service, their server speeds, their backup time , bandwidth availability, space available, whether upgrade possible or not, download speed, server maintainence and how many operating systems does the software support. If you find out the answers of all these questions in a satisfactory manner then you should go with particular service, if not then look for other service. In case you get a free trial that would be good to test the system as well.

All this gyaan would be a waste if you do not use backup service , if you are used to these sort of services then the following would never happen with you , or you would not try to patch your disc or try to get the data from it when it got broken.
