However this is only the start of the real problem. Most of the users today can fix this by starting the Task Manager and terminating the process. The actual problem is that the despite the failed install, users are not able to restart the installation process again. This is because the “Install wizard” does not start again as the previous setup was not completed. There is no entry of a failed installation in the “Add or Remove” programs list which makes the end users really helpless in such situations. The install can’t either be rolled back to older versions of Office (such as Office 2007) due to midway termination of setup.

To fix Office 2010 installation errors, follow these steps suggested by Microsoft

Step 1: Download and install the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility.

Step 2: Run Windows Install Clean Up.

Step 3: Highlight Microsoft Office 2010 entry in the list and then click Remove.

Note: If there are any other old or redundant office entries such as Office 2007 or other Office standalone  products such as Visio in the list, do highlight and remove them together.

Step 4: Quit the Windows Install Clean Up when cleanup process finished.

Step 5: Close all applications.

Step 6: Click Start, in the Search box, type regedit and press Enter to run Registry Editor.

Step 7: Expand the registry tree on the left pane and locate the following two registry subkeys:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office

Step 8: Right-click on the registry subkeys and click Delete to delete those keys.

Step 9: Open Windows Explorer, and then browse to the C:\Program Files and/or C:\Program Files (x86) folder.

Step 10: Perform the following actions:

If it exists, rename Microsoft Office to “Microsoft Office OLD”

If it exists, rename OfficeUpdate to “OfficeUpdateOLD”

If it exists, rename OfficeUpdate14 to “OfficeUpdate14OLD”

Step 11: Click Start, in the Search box, type %Temp% and press Enter.

Step 12: Empty (delete all files and folders inside) the Temp folder.

Note: If some files can’t be deleted, just skip them.

Step 13: Empty the Recycle Bin.

Step 14: Restart your computer. Try to install Office 2010 again.

These steps should fix the Office 2010 failed installation error.

To Print Screen on MAC OS X, you can either use a combination of keys or built in utilities. The combination of keys will vary according to the type of screen capture that you want. In this article we will discuss in detail various keyboard shortcuts that can be used to capture screen in Mac OS X.

1 . Print Screen entire Desktop

To take a screen capture of entire desktop, press Command-Shift-3 and release. This will automatically save the screenshot to your desktop in either .png or .pdf format.

2 . Print Screen entire desktop and copy to clipboard

To take a screen capture of the entire desktop press Command-Control-Shift-3. The screen shot will be copied to clipboard, which can now be used with another program.

3 . Print Screen a Portion of Desktop

Press Command-Shift-4. A cross hair cursor will appear. You can click and drag it to select the area you wish to capture. Once you release the mouse button the screen capture will be automatically saved to your desktop in either .png or .pdf format.

In case there is not enough space on the flash drive the tool will ask you to erase the content of the flash drive . Click on Erase USB to do so.

Note : It has been observed while using flash drive for installing Windows 7, when the system restarts the entire process starts from scratch. To avoid this remove the USB once the system turns off and insert it back once its boots up.

iChat is native MAC application which has been setting the bar for instant messaging services. To be honest, I can’t think of a single IM client that can be compared to iChat as far as its ease of use, stability and integration features are concerned.

Unfortunately Mickey iChat for Windows PC doesn’t really exist and there is little hope that Apple will be gifting it to Windows users anytime soon. What you can do for now is try out the following alternative clients which are somewhat similar to iChat in features.

AIM (AOL Instant Messenger)

AIM is one of the IM clients that you can look forward to as a replacement for iChat for Windows. It is light, consumes very little system resources and pretty responsive most of the times. To say it in a line – It is a complete Instant Messenger which now even supports integration of social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace and Twitter.

The best part is that you can chat with your iChat friends with AIM i.e. they don’t need to install AIM separately on their MAC.  AIM supports text messaging, audio chat, video chat and group chat features. However group chat with people using iChat seems to be having some niggles and needs to be sorted out.

Pidgin

The next best alternative to iChat for Windows would be Pidgin. With Pidgin you can log into accounts on multiple chat networks like AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, Jabber/XMPP, MSN Messenger, Yahoo, Bonjour,  MySpaceIM, and Zephyr. The list doesn’t end there; you can add many more with plugins.

Pidgin also supports most of the features of the other chat clients such as file transfers, away messages, buddy icons, custom similes, and typing notifications.
