When you compose or reply to an email message in Gmail, it by default opens the email editor in the same browser window as your inbox. For those of you who prefer a bigger mail editor, Gmail also has a feature to compose your messages in a new window and in full screen mode. This can be pretty useful if you need to go through an email message in your Inbox to create a new message.
Here is a quick guide on how to compose Gmail Messages in Full Screen Mode
Step 1: Go to the email editor normally. E.g. If you are composing a new mail, follow the same steps that you use to compose an email message in normal email editor.
Step 2: Click on Pop-out Icon on the top right side of email editor. See the following image for details.

This will launch the compose box in a new window. This window will not affect the presence and behaviour of your Gmail Inbox or any of the open tabs. However this separate window will only be an email editor window. You would also be able to send or save your email message as a draft. Similar to other browser windows you can easily resize/minimize or maximize this separate window.
Step 3: To further use the Gmail Compose Box in Full Screen mode, just press F11 key on your keyboard. This key works in all the leading web browsers.
Once you are done composing your Gmail Message in full screen mode, simply press the send button. After a few seconds of confirming that the email has been send Gmail will automatically close this new window.
