Default Username and Password for Linksys WRT54G Series Routers

Linksys WRT54G Series routers are one of the most popular Wi-Fi capable routers available today. Since these routers do not come with any preset passwords for wireless internet access, it is important that you set up a password.

This will ensure that your bandwidth doesn’t get stolen and you get full internet access speeds.

To change internet access password or to make modifications to your Linksys router you would need to login into Router’s web based set up page.

Here is a step by step guide to access Router’s administrator panel.

1. Start your Computer and Router; see that both are properly connected.

2 . Open a Web Browser (like Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Chrome)

3 .In the address bar, type router’s IP address which is 192.168.1.1 and press enter. This will open up a new window which will prompt for User name and Password.

4 . Leave the Username field blank ( Default username is blank )

5. Default Password for Linksys WRT54G router is “admin”

Note : In a few routers the Username field may also be set to “admin”

Press enter and you would be in the Web Based Interface of Linksys router. Now you can easily set up password for your wireless network.

How to Reset Linkys Router to Default Factory Settings

In case you have changed the default password and have forgotten it, you can easily reset your Router to default factory settings. This can be done by pressing the Reset button on the router for 30 seconds. Once you use reset option all the settings present on your router will be erased and the router’s IP address will also be set to 192.168.1.1. Here is a step by step guide.

1 Note down all the current Router settings.

2. Press the Reset Button of the router for 30 seconds and release. You would notice that the lights have stopped blinking. This is an indication that the router has been reset to factory defaults.

3. The username and password would be set to defaults (username field blank and password “admin”)
