Google Chrome 6 Beta for Windows, Linux and Mac platforms is available for download now. The new release is just an update and fixes bugs discovered in earlier versions. No new features have been added in this release. Chrome team has worked specifically on fixing the behavior of chrome while handling shortened URLs in the Omnibox .
Google Chrome has been increasing its share in the web-browser market ever since its initial release. It currently holds 8 % of usage share for browsers which is more than Safari (5.4%) and Opera (1.82 %) (both released earlier than Chrome ). This release too is a part of strategy to improve the browser quickly and increase the user base.
Google Chrome 6 marks a new cycle in the development process. All of the major features scheduled for Chrome 5 have been completed and thus Chrome team can now focus on setting new goals for Chrome 6.
The following changes/issues have been made/fixed in the new release
For All Operating Systems
Fixed: Don’t prepend scheme on copying an incomplete hostname 
Google Chrome 5 Beta releases added the feature of removing the http:// from the displayed URL. This worked pretty well for most of users but was a pain when someone tried to copy the web address from the Omnibox.
This has been fixed in the current release. Now the http:// would be automatically appended even if you copy only a part of address.
Windows Specific
It now bears a much better display/eliding of RTL and mixed-direction strings in the omnibox dropdown.
Linux Specific
Linux users were facing the issue that , http:// would be appended to the web address when the URL was copied from Omnibox but not when cutting it . This issue has been fixed.
Rendering of Monospace fonts has also been fixed for Linux release.
However users must not forget that it is just a beta release and it still has several issues like Hitting enter in some form fields does not submit the form. These issues are expected to be fixed in next issue.
