John Asks: I forgot my Linksys password, and I need to restore it to default settings. How can I do it?
John, since you have forgotten your Linksys router password, the best and the easiest option for you is to restore your Linksys router to default settings. You can do it by pressing the reset button and resetting through the router’s web based set up page. When you press the reset button on your router for 30 seconds, all the existing settings on the router will be erased and the router’s IP address will become 192.168.1.1 with the username field blank and password admin.
Here is a step by step guide.
Step 1 : Press and hold the reset button on the router for 30 seconds or until the lights have stopped blinking.
Step2 : Connect your PC to one the Ethernet ports on Linksys router .
Step 3 : Open a Web Browser and go to URL http://192.168.1.1/. This will open a pop up box asking for username and password.
Step 4 :In the pop up box, leave the username field blank and enter the password as “admin”. (In some of the routers username field may also be set to “admin”)
Step 5: To change the password, click on the “Administration” tab and enter the new password.
This should solve your problem.

hi, my linksys was working fine until i stupidly went to the http://192.168.1.1/ site and changed up stuff i didnt know. and now my lnksys router is not working. i have to connect my modem to my computer to get internet. Can u PLZZZZZZZ help?????? i really want my wireless back.
I am trying to change my password but have forgotten my old password. I hit the reset button for 30 seconds but I still cannot sign in using the password admin.
If you are unable to use the password admin then the other default password should be “password” without quotes.
