Out of many new features that were added to Safari 5, one of the most notable was it lets you install extensions to increase its usability. While Apple will be releasing the official Safari 5 extension later this summer, unofficial extensions have begun rolling out.
Today we bring to you the available Gmail Extensions for Safari 5 browser.
1: Gmail Checker Extension for Safari 5
The Gmail checker extension for Safari 5 works very similar to the Gmail checker extension in Chrome. It puts a Gmail button in the toolbar. This button show the number of unread mails in the Gmail account that you are currently logged in with.

Clicking the Gmail button will take you directly to your Inbox. The Gmail Checker extension lets you choose a time interval between 15 seconds to 15 minutes to check the incoming mail messages.
2: Plain Gmail:
With this extension installed, all plain-text messages you view in Gmail will be converted to a fixed-width font. Gmail’s compose box will also display whatever you type in a fixed-width font when composing a plain-text message.
You can choose the font that you want to use. The font that is used is your default fixed-width font set in the “Appearance” preference of Safari
