Do you want to know what is Jio Prime ?
Reliance Jio was commercially launched in September last year and since then i.e. in approximately 170 days Reliance Jio got almost 100 million subscribers or 10 crore subscribers who use Jio on a daily basis. Since there was a pressure from other operators and shareholders/stakeholders, Mr. Mukesh Ambani could not extend the free offer further than 31st March 2017. To start generating some revenues and lower churn rate the Jio Prime has been introduced.
Jio Prime is a bouquet of services from Reliance Jio which provides you following benefits that you are getting right now.
- Unlimited Data
- Unlimited Calling
- Jio Apps Absolutely Free till 31st March 2018( Jio TV, Jio Cinema etc)
Jio Prime is not free neither is the data on Reliance Jio Network. Jio Prime subscription will cost you Rs 99/- which you will have to subscribe from your MyJio app/ Jio Website or any retail chain. Please note that Subscribing only to Jio Prime will not get you unlimited data and calls.
Who can subscribe to Jio Prime ?
Jio Prime subscription will be open to all who take a Reliance Jio Connection before March 31st and recharge or pay the Jio Prime Subscription Fees. The program will commence on March 1st and culminate on 31st March 2018.
What are benefits/Perks of Jio Prime ?
As mentioned above , the 100 million subscribers who are using the Happy New Year offer on Reliance Jio will get the same benefits i.e. 1GB data per day , Free local and STD calls & SMS, no roaming charges, Jio Apps absolutely free till 31st March 2018.
What’s with Rs 303 ?
Since nothing comes free, therefore Reliance Jio will start charging it’s customers Rs 303 per month if you subscribe to Jio Prime before 31st March 2017. This Rs 303 subscription fees will entitle you 30Gb Data each month along with free calling.
What if we do not sign up for Jio Prime ?
Back in September 2016 , the commercial tariff of Reliance Jio was launched and if you do not subscribe to Jio Prime then you have to recharge your Jio number with regular tariff plans from 1st April 2017.
Other incumbents like Airtel, Idea and Vodafone were charging Rs 250 per GB of data in case you recharge with Data packs and as high as 4p/10KB (Rs 4000 per GB ) in case you did not opt for data packs. With Jio, data prices have fallen from Rs 250 per GB to Rs 10 per GB after today’s announcement from Mr Mukesh Ambani.
In case you recharge with Rs 303 every month you will get 30GB data each month otherwise in the regular Jio tariff you would have to recharge with Rs 149 and will get only 300Mb data. Most of us who have been recharging data packs each month till last year in excess of Rs 250 will find this plan good and will stick to the plan while those who occasionally recharged with data packs will not feel good about the plans.
In business terms, other GSM operators have been unable to raise their Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) to Rs 200 per month but Jio will get this benefit from first month itself which will be good for company.
So, how many of you guys will stick to Jio and how many of you would port out from Jio or throw the Jio Sim away.
