Internet Explorer 9 is a whole new browser that combines elegance in design with a punch in the performance. There have been quite a few changes from its predecessors; however the core still remains somewhat similar.
Apart from cosmetic and under the hood changes, users might have noticed the absence of the traditional “click” sound. This click sound played when a user clicked on a link in a web page opened in the earlier versions of Internet Explorer.
Internet Explorer picks up the click sound from the Start Navigation for the Windows Explorer Sound Scheme.
The change is appealing and is most likely done in order to let the users browse the internet silently but some users may still want the traditional Internet Explorer sound back. For those here is a detailed step by step procedure.
To restore the clicking sound in IE 9 do the following
Step 1: Click on the Gear Icon on top right hand corner and Select Internet Options
Step 2: In the pop up window, Click on the Advanced Tab
Step 3: Under the Accessibility Options, tick the checkbox next to Play Systems Sounds.
Step 4: Click OK when done
