According to the news which came yesterday the top search engine of China i.e. Baidu was accused of showing irrelevant results thus providing high search rankings to unlicensed
medical providers and hospitals. Baidu is the topmost search engine of China having more than 60% share in the Chinese internet penetration. As a result of this news the stocks of Baidu tumbled in NASDAQ.
The CEO of Baidu Robin Li, in an interview to the Chinese State News Agency Xinhua said that employees working in Baidu who helped unlicensed medical providers to get high rankings were fired and several others will surely loose their jobs in coming days. He also mentioned that they have removed the keywords for all the four clients ( High Ranking Unlicensed medical providers ) and also started checking documents of other clients in the client list.
Reports say that one customer wasted more than 10000 yuan ( 950 Ponds or approximately 1450 dollars) at a clinic he chose because it ranked high for a particular keyword in Baidu. The clinic paid Baidu nearly 17 yuan per click to top the listings. I would say that never believe such listings so you would never have to waste such amount of money on youself and not get cured.
