Clarke asks : Is there a way I can Stop Gmail from automatically adding contacts to my Contact List ?
Gmail by default creates a new contact each time you reply or send an email to someone. The auto add feature works pretty well, if you communicate with limited set of people. However if you are a professional who has to respond to a large number of queries through mail, managing your contact list quickly becomes a headache.
Thankfully Gmail now offers you a way to control this feature. Here is a step by step guide.
Step 1: Sign into your Gmail account. Click on the Gears icon, and select Mail Settings as shown in the image.
Step 2: In the General Tab, scroll down to option, “Create contacts for auto- complete”.( It is 8th last option in the General Tab)
Step 3: Select I’ll add contacts myself.
Step 4: Click Save at the bottom to save the changes.
I am pretty sure most of you won’t mind manually adding email addresses to your Google contacts. You can always turn on/off the feature at your convenience.
