iPad has being busy breaking sales records over the past few months and has already crossed the one million mark as of 3rd of May. It bears a 9.7 inch LCD touchscreen and is equipped with connectivity features like Wi-Fi.
On the software front iPad runs a modified version of the iPhone OS (Version 3.2) and thus most of the apps written for iPhone and iPod Touch work fine on iPad too.
To use Yahoo Messenger on your iPad you will need to download this free app from the iTunes Store. The 2.8 MB app is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad and requires OS 3.0 or above. It comes with lots of features and a free texting service.
Though the app works on iPad, it was originally released for iPhone OS and hasn’t been yet optimized for the iPad. Because of this it still has quite a few glitches. Some of the common ones are:
1. Doesn’t run in full screen mode on iPad.
2. Absence of Voice/ Video Chat.
3. Unreliable file transfer
4 Freezing up at startup
5. Problems in Landscape Mode
6. No Copy and Paste feature making it impossible to save conversations.
7. Slow at times at the login.
The current version of the app is 1.4 which was last updated on 3rd of April 2010.
